need opinions. so after a bunch of searching i finally found a bed cover with the features i wanted, with good reviews, at a real good price; Tonnopro Lo-Roll. a low profile, in rail, roll up cover with 1 tab release for only $270 shipped and a 10yr warranty!

was gonna get for xmas, BUT a crazy deal popped up on CL the other day.

a Pace Edwards Bedlocker (basically a Roll-N-Lock, but electric w/ remote open/close) for $350. they retail ~1.8k so i hit em up. got talking, and he said lowest he'll go is $200 :woah: now i was hooked and really wanted it, it's only ~1hr drive. asked a few more details, and found out it's pretty old..from either 06 or 07 he said, but "still works fine when he took it off". so it's far past it's 3yr warranty

SO, i'm worried about the age. since it's electric & fancy, that's more shit to go wrong, especially with that kinda time. debating hard whether to go for the steal of the second and have the most badass cover with the risk of electrical/mechanical failures..orr play safe & just get the brand new roll up cover

I'd gamble and go with the roll and lock. I personally like that type cover better than the roll up one you were looking at new. Yes, it would suck if you bought used and it didn't work but life is about taking chances

^:word: I want to get a retractable one for mine so bad, but just can't justify the new price. I know a couple guys that have older ones from like 08 or 09 I think and they still work fine.

For 200 its worth the gamble imo

This isn't an actual roll n lock, it's a 'bedlocker' which is fully electric/remote controlled. That'd why I'm worried about the age and something faulting.

If it was a manual rolling cover I'd already have it in possession haha :word: Smith, I don't mind the low pro roll up, I like it.. But the bedlocker iss better in all factors of looks/functions

I'd still give it a shot :imo: Pace Edwards seems to be a reputable company and you could probably get replacement parts if need be. You'd still be in it way less than a new one and have the ease of electric controls

roll-n-lock is a brand, not style btw.

Electric Retractable Tonneau Cover

Hard tonneau cover retracts into canister at the front of the truck bed
Durable black powder-coat finish on rigid aluminum panels
Patented silicon weather hinge provides a tight seal between the aluminum panels
Manual Switch Kit (available as an option) can be mounted in the cab or back by the tailgate in case of lost or broken remotes.
Electromagnetic brake locks cover in any position
Electric motor operated by remote control
Drive System release lever provides cover operation in case of lost power
No-drill, clamp-in design (on most applications) for installation in about an hour
Low-profile, aerodynamic design saves gas
Fits over 5th wheel trailer hitches

i know it is, unless you were talking to them lol. did read once about the manual emergency release, but just once. this IS also 6 or 7 years old, so i'm not sure if they even still had that feature back then. guess ill just have to call the dude and find out all the little deets

Take the gamble. Worst case it doesn't work and u disable motor and have a roll n lock

Hmm Good point

how come you wanna get one that rolls up, you dont like the tri folds at all... i love mine, got it for only $30 bucks cause my old mans work was just throwing 3 of em out cause they didnt want em... brand new, that was 3 years ago.

actaully had a thread before debating between roll up vs tri folds haha ended up deciding on roll up for a couple reasons. only fold up i'd get is the bakflip, but never see them on CL, & no way am i paying for a new one, fts lol

Well, guess I was trying to rationalize over my impulse, but seems impulse was right for once lol I'll call dude today.

Oh, and ginger is gonna hate me when he sees this prolly
