Need ideas - reviving shitty stockers

I have my stock 16s I'm gonna put back on the truck to sell. I really don't want to leave them in their clearcoat fiasco condition, cause it makes the whole truck look bad.

What could I do to just revive them on the cheap? We though of sand blasting and just clearing over that, or sandblasting and spray paint them the stock silver color, then clear..

I would wet sand with fine grit and then u could clear spray bomb or just with it a nice polish.....spray bombd clear would make it look nice and fresh though....cant get any cheap 16s like those on cl? those are cheap as fuck around here
 
nah ive looked for the past month. if there is any good deal on some sort of stockers with decent tires, its been almost 2hrs away. fts, the gas money to take the trip would ruin the good deal

that seems good, but looking for something much simpler and faster. dnw to have to order several things and wait for them to get here, just to de-shititize 16's. i dont need em perfect, just clean em up a little so they are somewhat presentable lol i guess ill see what my dad has at the shop, and if the old sand blaster still works
 
Youd have to remove that clearcoat to make them look decent imo, sandblasting and/or aircraft stripper would do the trick in their current state. Then scuff, polish, and clear. The issue you will run into is getting the center caps to match since they are coated differently from the rest of the wheel - they will look different after polishing the wheels, maybe some 'aluminum' colored paint would work after blasting and scuffing, such as this:

I see rustoleum cans like that at Home Depot/Lowes etc.

Thats what I would do, wont look like a stock color and finish, but it wont be too noticeable in the sales ad or from far away.

i was hoping the caps wouldnt be tooo off. could i just strip and polish them too? ill check out some spray cans when im at walmart/home depot while im looking for clear. is there any certain brand/type of spray clear coat i should use for the wheels?

aircraft grade paint stripper and a pressure washer to pull the clear off. Or take it to a powder coater and have him bake the clear off. then super fine sandpaper, and then polish and clear.

f taking them anything, itll probably cost more than its worth. where can i find aircraft stripper? i have the usual walmarts, home depots, and auto part stores near me

:lol: Bill is my avatar :rofl: but alright ill stop there on my way home from class tonight. it seems like some serious shit to just be selling over the counter at any store after seeing what it did to Welsh's truck lol but maybe i wont strip the caps then, ill just straight polish and clear them :hmm:

would any rattle can clear coat be good enough for these POS's?
 
good enough for me :lol: im guessing i should try and keep that aircraft stripper off of my tires while im spraying it. does that shit eat through everything? could i just throw some cards around the bead with an old blanket covering the rest, or will it go right through that too?
 
Just use cards and blanket, the spray pattern is concentrated. I use duplicolor clear, had cheaper stuff dry yellowish
