Anybody ever used drop leafs from mcgaughys? Was planning on going 4/6 but not sure after thinking about some of the roads I have to drive on everyday so i started thinking about just doing spindles and shackles until I found these leafs. I haven't seen anybody using them on the web and wasnt sure how they would act. I would be doing helper bags at the same time they went on to help level out if theres ever a load or trailer on the truck

Just didn't want to waste money trying something if its already been done and proven not to be good
 
Heard they ride pretty bad and bouncy..just go 4/6, you wont regret it
What you will regret is a small drop then wanting more low later ask any static guy that went with a small drop first lol
4/6 with some good shocks and helpers will ride good even on shitty roads

Yeah you're prolly right, I'm sure I'll end up wanting lower anyway. I'll just go for it and if I need to figure a different way to work out then I will lol

Would you recommend the belltech sp shocks for a pretty decent ride? and do you know what pns I'll need for the 4/6
 
im on drop leafs now but not mcgaughys i honestly wished i had just done a flip kit in the begining i had airshocks before my sps and i liked the air shocks better IMO
 
Do 4/6.
Just do a flip kit in the rear. Use a quality notch, and if it comes to terms, you can always use a lift shackle to raise the ass end an inch. I daily drove a truck 5/10 on 24's here in alaska for a year, and towed small trailers without helpers. Never had problems, and our roads are pure shit.
 
Damn okay. My issue is going to be being 4x4 we have a clevis mount lower shock, I was gonna run qa1 but they don't make anything with the right lower mount. It's starting to look like I'm gonna have to run with the djm lower arms so I can get the eyelet mounts to run qa1s
 
My truck was 4x4. That's all I did was run DJM upper and lower arms and some 17+ spindles with factory keys.
I ran DJM shocks up front on mine and to be honest, I loved them. They were stiff enough so you weren't bouncing or bottoming out on every bump, but were soft enough that they didn't ride like total shit.

Look up NORCAL SS I believe on gmfs or maybe even this site. He's a DJM dealers and got me a deal on all my stuff and had the shocks too.

I also love DJM's flip kit, but their notch is garbage. Do a McG's or an avs under bed notch.
 
Cool, I'll probably just end up running the djm arms and 2500 keys to adjust my height since I don't wanna go too low. Did you have bumpsteer with the arms and spindles?

Yeah I've talked to him already and will definitely be getting anything djm I buy from him since he price matches and is super helpful with any questions. Still undecided which flip kit to go with both look good so I guess its more of a which one can I get a better deal on. But I'll definitely be going with the McG notch
 
Ive said so many times, and it seems like Im the only one to ever say it. Drop leafs are amazing - I will never drop a truck any other way if the parts are available. I ran Ground Force leafs for years when I was static, daily drove the rear at 5" for a while, and then 7" for awhile - the people saying they are 'bouncy and ride bad' have either never ridden in a truck with a well built drop leaf suspension, or have not ridden in a truck with drop leafs at all. You can attain up to an 8" drop with drop leafs if you add shackles and hangers and it will ride perfect and handle great with the right shock. You will lose some hauling capability, but helpers will aid with suspension sag when loaded. Go for it, seriously.
