How To: Replace 99-02 foglight switch with 03-07
This is a quick how to thread on adapting the 03-07 updated cargo and foglight switch to your 99-02.
The main and ONLY function this serves is an updated look....i like the darker color as well as the darker buttons compared to the factory gray. And I personally did not like the whole 'CARGO LIGHT' displayed, and simply wanted the symbol to display instead. Wont matter to most people but to me...i like the little things!
This is very simple to do. No internal modifications required. You simply need to cut and splice both the factory harness and new connector. If you have access to factory crimp on pins it would make it look like factory and you would simply crimp the wire and plug it into the connector...unfortunately i did not have access so the solder/heatshrink method was best for me.
Here are the connections you need to make:
Factory / Update
Purple - Purple/White
Orange - Orange
Black - Black/white AND green/white
Grey - Brown/white
Blue/white - Blue/white
On the factory 99-02 harness ill explain what each color functions as:
Purple - LED indicator when your fog lights are on. (+)
Orange - Positive (+) trigger to signal your fog lights on
Black - Ground
Grey - Parking light illumination
Blue/white - Cargo light power
03-07 foglight switch:
Purple/white - LED indicator when your fog lights are on (+)
Orange - trigger to signal fog lights to turn on
Green/white - ground for the LED indicator
Black/white - Ground
Brown/white - Parking light illumination
Blue/white - Cargo light power
And the following are the pics:
And there you have it. Like i said, very simple to do and its the little things that count!
