Most of you guys know I found a mint 2007 Duramax with 22k miles on it in California. It's been a little over six months since I first heard about this truck and I finally had it delivered today.

Easily the cleanest used truck I've ever seen. The frame looks like my Dad's 2012 as far as cleanliness goes.

Haven't decided which way I want to go for subs.... behind the seat/under the seat or if I should get tahoe buckets and build a rear center console. Most likely 2 10's behind/under or a 12" if I do a center console build. I don't want it to be too bulky
may sound deaden it with mat and foam.

1. Converted the DRLs to turns today
2. Wired up my front footwell LED's
3. Modified stock signal relay to stop hyperflash

Used 2 6" 5k led strips per side in the front, was just going to use one but liked this better. I need to order more for the rear now.

I always wrap the base of the bulb and the top of the socket once around with electricians tape so it holds the switchback in place... Mine always sagged and stop working the way they should and this solved that. Plus it hides the socket color when installed.

Modifying the stock relay:

Remove 2 7mm screws from bottom of panel.

Apart: I use the paint can opener in the picture to open the module up... its easier than a screwdriver.

Don't have the big pass side mirror piece. There was a run in the clear and they weren't happy with how wetsanding it came out so they are re-clearing it tonight.

I didn't want to cut up my fresh painted valence so I got the hack saw out with some Torch Milwaukee Blades and went to town

It's all zip-tied back and I checked the clearance on it too.

When I had the Dodge 17's on the 06 they have a crazy backspacing and rubbed through the ABS wire on the pass side so I know how that goes. Replacing an ABS sensor is like doing a wheel bearing by the time you get done.

BTW did you have to open up the balljoint hole on the spindle at all with the 9/16" drill bit? My balloints for the Cognito UCA's seated fine but the directions said I might have to do that because the new BJ is Standard and the OEM one is metric. Never had any issues with my 06 and its UCA's.

I modified the up pipe myself. Cut off, sandblasted it, buddy of mine welded it for me. Easier, cheaper and less messing around to buy one for 100 bucks and ship back a core. If this fails I'll try a different route.

Also a buddy of mine had a pair of Alpine PDX 1.1000's that he gave to me in exchange for pulling his injectors and installing them. Not sure if I want them or not. He had 2 12" JL W7's for them but they were stolen out of his garage. Did want those.


Worked on the swap for about 3 hours today, I can't believe the amount of oil and soot it has for having only this little amount of miles.

Also I jacked My IAT temp sensor somehow when I took the mouthpiece off :okay2:

Never had an issue before, it must have caught on the PCV tube or something...trying to find one now.

Hard part is done. Only thing left to do now is loosen the 3 17mm bolts that hold the turbo in place and remove the EGR cooler and I think that has 3 14mm bolts IIRC. I need to grab some heater hose for my PCV reroute and to bypass the EGR log.

Should be all back together tomorrow easily. Also I almost forgot I have an LML drivers side manifold to drop in too.

They are drying right now. Not a fan of testors though, the spray tips clog really easily.

Gots some little stuff today. Copper tubing kit for the drive pressure setup.

And angle rings so I can start making my own gauge pod in the center console.

Started mah gauge pod today. Never really worked with bondo before so I think it came out alright. I still need do a couple coats of high build primer and do a little more sanding.

Also need to dremel out the stuff I don't need anymore behind.

Probably going to plasti-dip it.

I filled it all with bondo lol. We'll see how it holds up. I ordered another piece so I can do it again. Might do it a bit different next time. And if I do it again I will probably use fiberglass resin to fill that spot a bit more so I don't use so much bondo.

I drilled into it today for a 12v outlet and it didn't crack. :shrug: The cutouts around the hole are so the outlet stays in place. I plati-dipped it and it looks pretty close to factory.

:sneaky: Strictly VRT, let it sit for a little while then wipe it off.

I use a Stoners aerosol can tire dressing because troll grapplers are a PITA to put tire shine on
 
I prefer CoverAll for my tires. And I normally use the Lucas Slickmist for exterior, wheels, and interior.
