Cold air intake?

I recently acquired a 2006 Chevy 2500 LT Duramax. She's chipped, and I've had people tell me my next step should be putting a cold air intake on her. I've read mixed reviews on doing this, and with it being a couple hundred for a nice set up. What are y'all's thoughts? Worth the money?

1903A3: Early '43 Remington
 
CAI and exhaust would be my next mods personally. What tune are you running? Most off the shelf tuners are looked down upon when a custom tune could be had for a comparable price.
 
I along with most people have ran multiple CAI's. I currently run my oem air box ( not modded ) with a Airaid tube and an AFE Pro Dry S Air Filter ( non oiled ).

Blackbear performance completed a huge testing of multiple setups, and what I mentioned above was cheapest and best bang for buck.
 
i also have a duramax, it came with a Volant Diesel cold air intake .... i have read a comparison between stock and after market
it actually looses a few hp if you are running aftermarket intake under 400hp

then they ran it a duramax with 600hp and it gained about 10-20hp with the after market intake...

so it depends what your plans are, IMO do the intake box mod and spend your money else where
 
exhaust and downpipe should be your next mods.


Chips are garbage IMO you need a good EFI live tune from someone who knows what they are doing. Cornell is a good one. It will cost some cash, but after selling your chip it wont hurt your pocket too bad.

like everyone else said, intake isnt gonna do shit for you. its not like your turbo is struggling to get air,
