I know there's only a couple screws that hold the base on. But does the wire have a disconnect close to the base? Last time I tried to get it out I just kind of pulled on it and wire wasn't budging, and I really didn't want to dissemble my interior at the time. I bought one of those cheap ones off eBay and just stuck it behind the dash but it sucks. Going to the junkyard tomorrow and was just curious if there was an easier way. Thanks

Nope, the wire connected to the antenna base goes through the firewall, behind the glove box and all the way back to the radio. It's a pain in the ass to change, I did it on the Silvy years ago and will never do it again

I have heard of people using a glass mounted antenna. You stick it in the rear window, and it kind of looks like a rear defroster. It also has a built in signal booster that you have to wire up to the power antenna wire on your radio. Not sure exactly who sells them though. The NBS Escalades have an antenna like that from the factory. Its a grid on the passenger side rear glass. That's why people get that Escalade cowl place when they delete the antenna.

I need a signal booster. My 07 barely picks up stations 30 miles out of town

I also need a booster. My billet antenna is sitting in a box unpowder coated because of its bad signal... I have a shorty one installed that has a spiral in it and it gets just as good as stock and looks awesome IMO been laying in my papas tool box for years, it fit the truck and looked good so I've been running it since.

You can kinda see it if you zoom in on this pic... its not bent but it looks distorted.

So to replace just the base, you still have to pull the old wire out and put a new one on?
If so, may just leave this base and drill it out and re tap it and add some all thread for an antenna.

I bought mine from autozone for $21.00, had the base and IIRC 12ft cable which was more than long enough to reach the back of the radio.

That could work too, save some time and money. :slorg:

It's a Metra 44-GM94B, might be able to find one on ebay or amazon and just have it shipped to you.
