My new project: Sloane Peterson

Specs are 2001 2500HD CCSB , 8.1/allison/3.73/LT, 90,000 miles etc. I was originally between a handful of vehicles to include 03-06 Ram 2500 Cummins, 2500HD with 6.0/8.1/duramax, and Avalanche 2500. I ended up looking hardest for 8.1 2500HD's because of the quality of vehicle stock as well as it's potential... obviously. I scored a good price for the truck since it had character scratches and dings. It also gets 13mpg running 82 down the interstate which is plenty for me.
The power is more than satisfying from a stock gas truck. However I am leaning on a Comp270 grind cam on a 111 LSA + 3000 stall converter + stainlessworks longtubes + corsa + quality tune. I have looked into Raylar mainly for their cylinder heads however after calling them and receiving enough of their SoCal arrogance and rudeness(example: Offroad Unlimited) I will not give them $3000 for a pair of cylinder heads to make 35 more horsepower.
Suspension wise will be ~9" suspension coilover front/leaf rear with ~ 3" extended front wheelbase with my Dana 60, and maybe 1" rear and the 11.5 AAM. Gears will most probably be 5.13's and of course I will be locked... for now most probably the E locker up front and the G80 rear until it breaks. I am heavily leaning towards a coilover setup rather than leaf springs. Pure Performance's 9" 4link kit looks pretty good and they are willing to make adjustments to the kit per my specs. Cage Offroad lists a price but did not show pictures however I can now see a couple broad ones thanks to the above post. Offroad Direct has a Radius/coilover setup also but I have not researched their customer service as of late. There's also my preference to have a shop build something more specifically for me like WFO Concepts, Ballistic Fab, XXX Traction, Rustys offroad, etc.
Tires- I will probably run my 38 XML's for now and see how possible the 47's will be. If I can... find a set of 38.5 or 39.5 Boggers for small general purpose tires.
Other probable mods will be SYE on the 263 if it is possible or maybe a 241HD swap, sliders, tube bumpers, window tint, 1410 driveshafts, etc.

Random picture for kicks today.

Spent some time researching and spending money as always.

When parts arrive, I will divulge on my choices.

Anyone know what the spline count is on a F350 superduty NP271? Hopefully it is same as the allison. Trevor at WFO is helping me out on knowledge in this area thus far.

Advanceadapters lists the allison 1000 4wd output as 29spline
There are 3 listed splines for NP271's between ford and dodge... 24, 31, 34

It's obvious that an 8.1 2500HD has better quality and potential than a Duramax? What?

Did you not just answer your own question then?

I purchased the truck October 2009. I completed the SAS around June 2010. I have been driving the truck often since then to include cross country trips towing my yukon+car hauler(~7000lbs?) over 500 miles as well as to and from our homebuilding site(see other thread) requiring 4wd and winching virtually everytime be it extracting the trackhoe or winching down trees. Nothing super awesome but the truck gets a workout every time I drive it practically and has never let me down...... which in itself is more rewarding than one single super awesome trip to me.

I'm still scared to pull trigger on a 271 but I know I need one. Come install mine when I order it?
